Hello Reader,

I'm writing this from my little office - with a blanket, hoodie, and a cup of hot coffee... but I've got sunshine on my mind!

​

While there are gray skies out my window, I'm definitely thinking of summer which means I'm sharing some outdoor styling ideas today!

For this design, I imagined a late summer afternoon with a few good girlfriends gathered around. Ginger spritzers and folksy acoustic guitar in the background....

(ok, probably not likely for this single mama, but a girl can dream right?)

In any case, neutrals and earthy colors make it easy to mix and match or incorporate with existing pieces.

Tips for Using Design Boards

Creating design boards are one of my very favorite aspects of styling! It's more than just throwing together pretty things though.

I spend a lot of time hitting the 7 design elements, researching quality, and creating an all together cohesive look.

To make it work in your space:

  • Double check measurements (many products come in variety of sizes)
  • Use what you have already (e.g. already have a wicker chair - just add the pillow to achieve the look)
  • Keep the design elements (e.g. here I used contrast, texture, shape, height)
