tips & projects for an authentic home

Hello Reader,

Would you believe that at one time there was a bright orange wall in my house? Or that I once painted a photo frame teal? What about those yellow pillows that once landed on my couch? It’s true.

These things happened. But, then, something else happened. I fell in love with neutrals.

Today, I'm sharing some of the benefits of neutral decor (for those, ahem, who dare me to add some color) along with some other exciting updates.

Ok, so what's the deal with neutral decor?

My view on home decor is less about making things pretty but making sure our space is functional, authentic, and comforting. For me, this means neutral.

And while a completely neutral look might not be your thing, it can help to at least consider some reasons behind it.

Benefits of Neutral Home Decor

  • Sense of Calm - I can't be the only on the quest for chill vibes
  • Easy Changes - for all the commitment phobes, this is a bonus
  • Classic Choices - I've never once regretted a black wall
  • Fewer Decisions - Is there more to say?

If you're looking for more ideas & examples, be sure to check out the full post for a deeper dive:

Absolutely must have color? Stay tuned for next week where I'll share some suggestions for adding color (none of which include painting an orange wall....)

Projects on the Horizon

Whoo boy, there have been some big life changes this year so I've been in a bit of a project lull (though I've worked on a couple fun client projects!).

But, I'm currently planning a few of my own home projects and will be sharing more these soon:

  • Kitchen Remodel
  • Bedroom Update
  • Guest Bathroom Budget Makeover

Simply respond to this email with any design questions - happy to help!

Home Styling with Allisa tips & projects for an authentic home Hello Reader, I'm writing this from my little office - with a blanket, hoodie, and a cup of hot coffee... but I've got sunshine on my mind! While there are gray skies out my window, I'm definitely thinking of summer which means I'm sharing some outdoor styling ideas today! Shop Patio Sources For this design, I imagined a late summer afternoon with a few good girlfriends gathered around. Ginger spritzers and folksy acoustic guitar...

Home Styling with Allisa tips & projects for an authentic home Hello Reader, Ok, I'll come out and say it - I'm sort of a stress ball right. Life has been coming at me hard and I'm using allll my strategies to deal. In addition to the usual, like therapy sessions, journaling, and my pitiful attempts at deep breathing - I also organize the hell out of my space. Tidy space, tidy mind - right? But, I admit, sometimes tackling organization can be downright overwhelming. So, in the spirit of...

Home Styling with Allisa tips & projects for an authentic home Hello Reader, In the last couple months, I'd had a whole host of contractors here. From kitchen cabinets to crawl spaces, there is work to do. And, I will be the first to admit, getting bids can be absolutely overwhelming. Whether it's just the sheer amount of time involved or staring at numbers you had no idea could be so big. (Um, excuse me sir, I think you added an extra zero there....) Well, after having worked on several...
