Home Styling with Allisa

tips & projects for an authentic home

Hello Reader,

Sometimes in life we end up being an expert on something we never expected. Like, if you need help finding the best oat milk latte in Oregon, I’m your gal.

And, welp, I guess I can add 'home styling after a divorce' to my list of skills as well. Not only have I gone through the process myself, moving between a couple homes and a hot minute in an apartment, I’ve been honored to support others in creating their spaces after a split.

So, here I am, latte in hand with my bag of tricks for decorating after a divorce.

The Goods: Decorating After Divorce

This article was a long time coming. I had the words in my heart for so long. In truth, I struggle a wee bit with being vulnerable.

I mean, the absolute sheer roller coaster of remodeling my dream home, then starting a divorce, and then selling the property during the pandemic... all while feeling very exposed with a large instagram following. (Reason #1,673,209 I took a step back from social media).

Anyhow, I digress. During my divorce process, I found such strength in creating a new space for myself and my boys.

And, like a beautiful, quiet underground network, I've been honored to support other women (and a few men!) on their path.

You might be thinking, isn't decorating kind of trivial at this point? Well, I guess, if you're just throwing random pillows around.

But to me, it's about creating a safe place for your heart. Making your own soft spot to land...and allowing room for all things new.

So, if you find yourself in this position, click the link below and check out the full article where I share 8 tips for decorating after a divorce.

Looking Ahead

If all this talk of feelings made you itch a little, I get it. Don't worry, I'll be back next week with some non-touchy feely tips on getting Home Remodeling Quotes.

And, if you made it this far, thank you for reading my words and inviting me into your inbox!

As always, hit REPLY and share your design comments, I'm happy to help.

xo, allisa

Home Styling with Allisa tips & projects for an authentic home Hello Reader, I'm writing this from my little office - with a blanket, hoodie, and a cup of hot coffee... but I've got sunshine on my mind! While there are gray skies out my window, I'm definitely thinking of summer which means I'm sharing some outdoor styling ideas today! Shop Patio Sources For this design, I imagined a late summer afternoon with a few good girlfriends gathered around. Ginger spritzers and folksy acoustic guitar...

Home Styling with Allisa tips & projects for an authentic home Hello Reader, Ok, I'll come out and say it - I'm sort of a stress ball right. Life has been coming at me hard and I'm using allll my strategies to deal. In addition to the usual, like therapy sessions, journaling, and my pitiful attempts at deep breathing - I also organize the hell out of my space. Tidy space, tidy mind - right? But, I admit, sometimes tackling organization can be downright overwhelming. So, in the spirit of...

Home Styling with Allisa tips & projects for an authentic home Hello Reader, In the last couple months, I'd had a whole host of contractors here. From kitchen cabinets to crawl spaces, there is work to do. And, I will be the first to admit, getting bids can be absolutely overwhelming. Whether it's just the sheer amount of time involved or staring at numbers you had no idea could be so big. (Um, excuse me sir, I think you added an extra zero there....) Well, after having worked on several...
